# Set up AI Video Maker

Official setup instructions for skill version 2.1.0. Requires Node.js 20+ and an AI Video Maker account. Installation is free; video generation uses separate API credits.

1. Identify the user's client. For Codex, Claude Code, or OpenClaw, use the matching installer below in the intended project (OpenClaw installs in the user's home directory). For Muse, follow the archive instructions below. If an installation already exists, inspect it before replacing it.
2. Read the installed SKILL.md and references before use. Restart the agent session if necessary to load the skill.
3. Run the matching connect command below on the agent’s computer. It verifies an existing connection or prints a browser approval link and comparison code. Show the link as “Connect AI Video Maker” and ask the user to approve the matching code in their browser. Never approve it on their behalf.
4. Keep the helper running with the host’s background-process tools and wait for completion. It saves credentials privately and verifies the account and a sample quote automatically. Do not require a terminal handoff or a “Connected” reply. If browser approval is unavailable, offer connect.mjs --manual in the user’s own terminal for hidden key entry; keys are created at https://aivideomaker.ai/app/settings/account/api-keys. Never request keys in chat, commands, or logs.
5. Report installation, connection, and verification separately. Only report “Connected and verified. No credits spent” after the helper succeeds, with the returned balance and sample quote. The first API key receives 50 introductory API credits once per account. Stop after setup; do not generate a video. Use doctor and quote below to recheck an existing connection if needed.

## Muse and other skill-capable agents

Use the versioned archive and checksum linked below with the client's documented skill-import mechanism. The CLI installer only accepts codex, claude, and openclaw; do not pass muse or silently select a different client. Read the archive's SKILL.md. The bundled workflows require Node.js 20+ and access to a private credential store. If the client cannot import skills or run these scripts, explain that limitation and use the documented REST API only if the client supports secure API-key storage. Never request a key in chat or claim setup succeeded without verification.

## First video

Ask what the user wants to create from a prompt, image, or references. Quote the exact request first, obtain approval for the quoted spend, then use the installed workflow with a credit cap and a unique idempotency key. Reuse the same key when retrying the same task. MiniMax H3 720p Turbo is 15 API credits (USD $0.15) for 5 seconds; other settings have different rates. No API subscription is required.
